The Bibliography of Illinois Geology covers publications and articles on Illinois geology from the earliest published article in 1752 to 2003. It includes the previously printed ISGS Bulletin 92, Bibliography and Index of Illinois Geology through 1965, and ISGS Bulletin 105, Bibliography and Index of Illinois Geology 1966-1996. The bibliography includes citations for all of the fields of research at the Illinois State Geological Survey, including (but not limited to) geology, groundwater, industrial minerals, petroleum, coal, environmental geology, geochemistry, and geophysics. Publications are included only if they relate specifically to Illinois. Monographs, journal articles, conference proceedings, theses, maps, guidebooks, and reports are among the publications cited. Every effort was made to ensure that this bibliography is complete; however, if you find an omission you are requested to contact the Library at the Survey so that the database can be corrected.

The GeoRef database from the American Geological Institute provided a majority of the citations used in this bibliography. Various other databases, including the ISGS Library catalog, were also searched. Citations were verified when necessary. GeoRef is used as a basis for the level of detail for the indexing.
